Aishwarya & Abhishek Bachchan to play Ram & Sita in Mani Ratnam's Ramayan

still8 Ramayan will see an interesting cast of actors. Comedy king Govinda is slated to play the role of Hanuman.

Evil Lord Ravana is to be played by Tamil actor Vikram. However in the Tamil version Vikram plays the role of Rama. Mani Ratnam is on a high as the Aishwarya and Abhishek are starring in his next project after ‘Guru’, which was based on the life of industrialist Dhiru Bhai Ambani that saw this off-screen couple playing the lead role.

The modernized version of Ramayan that Mani Ratnam is attempting is generating a lot of buzz in the industry. Like all classic love stories like Laila Majnu, Jodha Akbar, the theme of Mani Ratnam’s movie will be the love of Ram- Sita. The film is to be made under Ratnam’s banner Madras Talkies and will be produced by his sister Sharda

World Bank debars Satyam for bribery

image002 Satyam Computers' cup of woes seems to be overflowing, with news surfacing Tuesday that the software vendor has been debarred by the World Bank for alleged data theft and bribing bank officials.
Fox News, a US-based broadcaster, said the World Bank has admitted to it that it had banned Satyam from all business at the bank for a period of eight years - and that the ban started in September.

Satyam had allegedly installed spy software on workstations inside the bank's Washington headquarters resulting in theft of sensitive financial data, Fox News said, quoting Robert Van Pulley, the top World Bank's information security official.
The debarment - the harshest sanction the world's largest anti-poverty agency has imposed on any company since 2004 - was meted out for "improper benefits to bank staff" and "lack of documentation on invoices," the broadcaster said on its website.
Confirming the news to IANS, a World Bank spokesperson in New Delhi said: "The facts mentioned in the story are correct."
In 2005, the bank's chief information officer, Mohamed Muhsin, was ousted after being accused of improperly buying preferential stock options from Satyam, even as he awarded the firm major contracts, the report said.
Fox News also reported that the bank did not make the admission in public. Instead, Van Pulley made the comments in a meeting and two telephone conversations with officials of the Government Accountability Project (GAP), a 30-year-old non-profit public interest group based in Washington.
Satyam has been embroiled in a spate of controversies following its failed bid to take over promoter group companies Maytas Infra and Matyas Properties at $1.6 billion.
Worsening matters for Satyam Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju, Britain-based client Upaid filed an injunction in a US court last week against him and two top officials, alleging that the Maytas bid was an attempt to siphon off surplus money in case Satyam lost a suit that it is battling with Upaid.
There was no statement in this regard from Satyam.

Abhiyum Naanum Movie Review

The sucessful team who made the superhit "Mozhi" is up with another good product in Abhiyum Naanum. The team has made sure that most of the cast of "Mozhi" is in this venture too. Prithviraj the hero of "Mozhi" has made a very special appearance in this movie.

The entire movie is on a flashback mode with Raghuraman (Prakashraj) narrating the story to Sudhakar (Prithviraj). The entire movie has been well thought of in terms of the love and affection a father would shower on his daughter.

The journey of the father-daughter relationship begins from the time Abhi (Trisha) is admitted to school and how she grows into a mature individual. Rahguraman's chemistry with his wife Anu (Aishwarya) is so natural that they hardly seem to put a foot wrong in their acting.

In every stage of Abhi's life, the father does not change the way he thinks about her and that leads to certain comic situations in the movie. When Abhi chooses a man as her to-be life partner and when that is being conveyed to Raghuraman the expression on his face indicates how much he has sinked into the role.

Prakash Raj has performed or rather has lived in his charecter very well. Aishwarya supports him to great effect in terms of performing at the right level. Trisha has given her best performance till date in this film.

Songs by Vidyasagar is of average quality but the background score is fantastic in patches. The scenic beauty of Ooty is captured very beautifully by camerawomen preetha. Director Radha Mohan wanted to come out with a product that was much better than Mozhi but unfortunately fails in the screenplay portion. The unnecessary placement of songs in the second half breaks the flow of the movie.

A must watch movie for the parents who love their daughters but for others its a ordinary fare.

Nokia Online Backup

image

After trying their luck with ovi, Nokia has now launched their own online backup service which also boasts of other interactive features for your Nokia mobile.

http://www.nokia.co.in/mynokia

is where you have to register your phone number and IMEI number, and the site will auto-detect your phone model.

The website at the moment supports these models.

At the moment, the service only supports contacts, calendar and notes. Bookmarks, text messages, MMS are not supported. Another provider, O-Sync.com covers more services than any of their competitors (zyb.com, the most famous).

But when the service is from Nokia itself, we tend to feel that its just more reliable.

Ghajini Movie Review - A Treat to watch

Revenge seems to be the buzz word for Ghajini. Revenge is not limited to the story line alone but also for the director also who has taken revenge for the freedom not given to him by the tamil makers of Ghajini.

Ghajini is a full and full commercial fare which has got a much improved outcome from its indian original (Tamil "Ghajini"). The director has shown to the world how good he is in his trade if the right amount of freedom is provided. Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) a business tycoon goes in search of Kalpana (Asin - Debutant in Hindi) to settle scores with her for giving out a wrong information about him. But once Sanjay gets introduced to her he is totally swept of his feet by her. Sanjay not wanting to disclose his identity christens himself as Sachin. Sanjay then gets to move with kalpana and by virtue of her kindness and affection she shows towards others falls in love with her. When Sanjay decides to reveal his true identity tragedy strikes in a big way as kalpana is killed by the villain and at the same time sanjay becomes a amnesia patient where he cannot remember happenings for more than 15 minutes. Sanjay then decides to take revenge on the villain and the major drawback apart from his 15 minute memory is that he does not remember the face of the villain. Whether sanjay finds the real villain and takes revenge or not forms the rest of the story. Sunita (Jiah Khan) comes as a final year medical student who follows the case of sanjay has played a very matured role. Jiah Khan is in her sensuous best in the Latoo song. A R Rahman has once again proved his worth and the same goes to the cinematographer Ravi K Chandran. Director A R Murugadoss has made a few changes to the climax from the tamil version and has fine tuned the screenplay in order to have a wider appeal. On the whole a terrific effort from the entire cast and crew of Ghajini.

OATMEAL COOKIES IN A JIFFY (NO-BAKE COOKIES)

OATMEAL COOKIES IN A JIFFY (NO-BAKE COOKIES)

Christmas is round the corner and its but natural for one to get into the mood of cookies and cakes, but since I don’t have a conventional oven to bake my goodies in, I have to search for other options and yet fulfill my desire of baking those perfect cookies for my little ones. I wanted to bake something nutritious and tasty at the same time. I had a big bottle of peanut butter waiting for me in the refrigerator, so I thought why not make good use of it. Since I am off eggs, here is a nutritious eggless cookie which doesn’t need baking, just blend the ingredients together, so you can involve your little ones in this project too.

Ingredients

Quick cooking oatmeal – 3 cups

Coconut or peanut butter - 1 cup

Cocoa – 1/2 cup

Sugar - 2 cups
Milk – 3/4 cup

Butter - 1/4 lb/ 450 gms/ 1 stick

Method

In a bowl mix oatmeal and/or coconut and/or peanut butter. You can use both coconut and peanut butter or one of the two ingredients. If you are using both then use half cup coconut and half cup peanut butter. Now I had the chunky version of peanut butter at home, this actually enhanced the flavor of the cookies as it gave that nutty crunch to it. Once you mix these ingredients keep it aside.

Cut the butter into pieces.

In 2-quart casserole, combine sugar and cocoa. Stir in milk, then add butter, cut into pieces. Cook on high for 3 minutes, uncovered, or until boiling. Stir, then cook 3 minutes on high, stirring every minute. Add oatmeal and coconut (or peanut butter or enough of both to measure 1 cup). Cook on high for a minute. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper to harden. If you 're in a hurry, they may need to be refrigerated to harden.

WISH ONE AND ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS

LINUX - How to create a local YUM repository

Hi Guys,

This is my first Post. I am really excited to talk about YUM which has solved all the problem in Linux for installing packages . The cool feature is that it takes care of all the dependencies.

Let me teach you how to configure YUM in Redhat 5 .Since in Redhat 5 you cannot directly use yum since we require licence.Imagine you forgot to install a package say for example perl what will you do?.It may not be simple just to download the package But think about its dependencies YUM may be configured with ftp http or local I will explain all.

First of all while installing redhat 5 please please make sure you install createrepo package ( very very important)

Let create a local yum repository with ftp service.

1:First create a folder name Server in /var/ftp/pub/

#mkdir -p /var/ftp/pub/Server

2: copy all the packages from the cd or dvd to /var/ftp/pub/Server

# cd /media/

# cd Packages

# cp -rf * /var/ftp/pub/Server

3: Once all the packages are copied in /var/ftp/pub/Server . We need to run this command

#cd /var/ftp/pub

#createrepo -v Server/

4: After running the command go into the folder Server/ .You will be able to see repodata folder

5: Go into to the folder and check whether four .xml files are created.

6: Great that is it your yum repository is ready .

7: Now just start the ftp service

# service vsftpd restart

8:Now we need to edit the Yum configuration file

#cd /etc/yum.repos.d

9:Now we will edit the file

# vi rheldebug.info

10: Please edit remove all the lines and make this entry

[rhel-server]

name=

baseurl=ftp://< youripaddress >/pub/Server

enable = 1

gpgcheck = 0

save this file

Now run this command

#yum clean all

Thats it now the yum server is ready

for http service

just add the packages in /var/www/html/Server

follow step 3

restart the httpd service

make an entry in vi /etc/yum.repos.d/rheldebug.info

here in baseurl://http:///html/Server

and for ordinary yum

make this entry in vi /etc/yum.repos.d/rheldebug.info

baseurl://file:///

eg baseurl://file:///var/ftp/pub/Server

Major Disruptions in International Cabling system from Mumbai causing Internet from India to hit by 85%

As most you might be knowing that Internet Services from India are dependent upon a number of Submarine cables emanating from Mumbai, Chennai and Cochin. They are:

 (a)   Mumbai – SWM3, SMW4, FLAG

 (b)   Cochin – SAFE3

 (c)   Chennai – I to I

All the cables from Mumbai have gone down due to disasters under the sea (sabotage or anchor drop suspected). As a result Indian Internet services are running only on SAFE3 and I-to-I which possesses only 15% of the overall capacity from India (Broadband and DSL connections are running over Satellite connections only). This news appeared in TOI Saturday on the front page.

Due to this reason, the Internet speed to Servers outside India would be extremely bad at least till the end of this month (as predicted by the news). The interconnectivity between branches would not be affected because they are dependent upon Inland network within India. Local inbound and outbound mails will flow faster than international mails – but the traffic will not be completely disrupted.

Austalia wants their Muslims out

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Movie Review - In a class of its own

Director Aditya Chopra who had just directed two movies prior to Rab ne in a career spanning thirteen years, we just cannot stop admiring this individual. When he had decided to write and direct his third venture the expectations were sky rocketing and infact RNBDJ carries the tag of one of the most awaited movies of the year.

The movie begins in Amristar where we see Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) a normal office going guy and his newly wedded wife Tanni (Debutant Anushka Sharma) alights from the train to start their new life. The sequences that follow indicates to the viewer on the background of their marriage and what is the level of bonding that prevails amongst the two. Shahrukh Khan then goes about his routine schedule and thats where the director has scored the maximum for portraying the lifestyle of an ordinary middle class office-goer.

Tanni though reluctant in the beginning slowly gets into the groove of things and into the life of Surinder. Surinder as such a boring guy always occupied with his office work loves his wife very deeply he feels it is his responsibility to see her happy always and what follows thereafter is the fun filled ride that keeps the viewers glued to their seats.

On the whole though the story or the plot seems to appear little silly the treatment and the execution of the same is extraordinary. In the recent memory there has never been a movie that has got a great innovative thinking supplemented with the individual narrative brilliance of the director.

Shahrukh Khan has once again proved that he is the best in the business and when Aditya chopra decided to go in for a debutant female lead for this movie, the pressure on the newcomer would have been enormous and Anushka Sharma has been the best find as she portrays her role to perfection displaying the maturity and confidence of a seasoned campaigner.

Shahrukh Khan's favourite cinematographer Ravi K Chandran has once again been brilliant with his camera work. Salim-Suleman with their musical score have literally enthralled the audience with their fascinating songs and background score.

On the whole a movie in a class of its own.

Important : DO NOT MISS THE END CREDITS

Google Chrome Beta Label Gone

Google has shelved the beta label for its new product chrome. Chrome is now GA released with the new version 1.0. The company who is always known for having its product in beta testing for a long time has made up its way to shelve the beta label and provide GA release in surprisingly fast manner.Chrome which hit the market in the month of september as new born baby has started to walk within 3 months of time.

Distinctly Google wants the use of Chrome to grow sooner rather than later. Within span of three months the w3schools statistics measures that around 3% of the world uses chrome which is something honorable and the move to shelve beta shows that Google wanted to increase the numbers.

Google has still planned to have another version as beta which they will be using it for making further developments to the chrome.

Bommalattam Movie Review

Bharatiraaja’s much awaited “Bommalattam” which was in the making for three years has finally hit the screens and for the viewer who has got a little bit of interest left in the movie has got more disappointments than anything at the end of the movie. One wonders how did a director with the caliber he has in handling the sentimental rural subject becomes a cropper in choosing such a naive and a stupid subject. Though the director claims that this movie is based on a real-life happening, the viewer fails to understand the logic behind choosing this subject to be made with Nana Patekar in the lead.

The movie begins with Director Rana (Nana Patekar) conversing with his new find heroine suggesting to the viewer that this movie might be a take on the sensational casting coup prevalent in the film industry. The screenplay also moves towards that direction which makes one suspect Rana as a womanizer. The movie also has Kirushna (Debutant Rukmani) around whom the movie revolves and Rana is so affectionate and protective towards her. This leads us to a conclusion that Arjun who comes in as a CBI Officer is hell bent on finding the other side of Rana.
As the movie rolls on we really wonder if there can be such a cruel or rather an insensitive director towards his producer and his other artistes. Well if this happens to be an inspiration from a real life incident then we all have to pity the producers who had given their money to such an arrogant director.

The startling reality of this movie is that it is a part dubbing and a part straight movie. Most of the scenes are dubbed from hindi while the scenes where the local crowd pullers Comedian Vivek and Manivannan are the straight tamil scenes. This is seen when the lip sync in most of the dialogues goes awry and on closer look we find that the actors converse in hindi and their voices dubbed in tamil.

This Multilingual film “Cinemaa” (Hindi) and “Kalidas’ (Telugu) has got pathetic music by Himesh Reshammiya. On the acting front Kajal Aggarwal who made her debut in the superhit “Saroja” has played an inconsequential role so does Bharatiraaja’s yesteryear find Ranjitha as Mrs. Rana. “Action King” Arjun has been wasted in the role of a CBI officer.

On the whole “Bommalattam” is a movie not to be missed if you are waiting for a movie that is something different from the run-of-the mill stories but for others its worth missing.

Poo Movie Review

Nesagee Cinema’s latest offering “Poo” is an adaptation of the short story “Veyyilodu Poi” written by S. Tamizhselvan. Director Sasi who had given hit films like Sollamale, Roja Kootam and Dishyum has tried his hand in a story that is very realisitic and rustic in nature. The credit has to be given to the director for choosing such a subject but when it comes down to the screenplay a lot is left to be desired especially when the final product falls in the genre of commercial cinema.

Mari (Debutant in tamil cinema “Parvathy”) is head over heels in love with her maternal uncle’s son Thangarasu (Srikanth) right from her childhood and her ambition in life is to marry thangarasu. The director had decided to give the viewer a realistic potrayal of the mindset of a village girl who spends most of her time thinking about her sweetheart. The screenplay revolves mainly around Mari that the movie literally stands out for the performance of the new comer Parvathy. The actors in the movie have lived their charecters as each and every member of the star cast have given a wonderful performance.

Parvathy potrays the charecter assigned to her with finesse that in certain scenes one really feels for her ignorance towards things happening to her and Srikanth as thangarasu infact plays second fiddle to parvathy in the scheme of things. Cinematographer P.G.Muthiah has captured the rustic looks of the villages perfectly as is the Art director K. Veerasamar who has made sure that his department adds more value to the final outcome. Music director S.S. Kumaran has also come up with a respectable score but one hopes that he has more to deliver in the future.

Director who had decided to make this movie on the Commercial genre should have given more importance to the screenplay as things tends to drag too much to the liking of the viewer. Though this movie is not the run-of-the-mill types but in certain periods one feels really let down towards the treatment given by the director.

On the whole a movie not for the masses but for the select audience and the critics who were waiting for a movie which stands out from the ordinary.

Right to Cast NO VOTE – Sec 49-O (India)

Section 49-O of the Constitution of India
In the constitution, as per the 1969 act, section"49-O",  a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!

Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".

What will happen if I say “No Vote”:

If the number of No VOTEs is larger than the number of votes by which a candidate has won, then

1. The polling would be cancelled

2. There will be a re-polling

3. The candidature of all the contestant would be cancelled, and the party have to find new contestants.

Fearing these consequences, the strong politicians in India have all these days made sure the election commission never reveals such a section to the public.

Even a National Newspaper like “The Hindu” published an article on this, but I would say the impact was very less. (http://www.hindu.com/2006/04/04/stories/2006040412450100.htm)

However, adequate security would have to be provided for such brave voters or the terrorists (alias politicians) would dare to even kill them.

Is it a tit for tat from Pakistan

I don’t know how true this is. I had got this article through email. Looks more like a tit-for-tat kind of reaction from Pakistan. We never know how much of these allegations are true, or if they are made to just cover up the terror. Read on

Islamabad has prepared a list of some 35 top terrorists, involved in a number of terror activities in Pakistan and is set to hand over the names to Delhi seeking an early arrest and handing over of the accused to Pakistan.

According to highly authentic sources, the list has been prepared by the Pakistan Foreign Office and the Ministry of Interior, with the assistance of police and intelligence authorities, in the backdrop of the investigations of different incidents of terrorism and sabotage in different parts of the country.

The list was actually prepared many weeks ago but was not given to Indian authorities with the intentions of gearing up peace process. But, the sources say, now, after India has failed to handle the situation sensibly and has instead started asking Pakistan to hand over 20 so called Pakistanis, who it says are involved in numerous terror activities in India. Pakistan has decided to come up with a matching response and has decided to ask India to hand over at least 35 leading terrorists, who were found to be directly or indirectly involved in a number of terrorist activities in Pakistan.

It is learnt that Islamabad is also sending a copy of this list to Washington to bring it to the notice of US authorities and to clarify the actual state of affairs in the backdrop of the Indian allegations in this regard while it is also under consideration to release a detailed report in this direction for the consumption of anti-terror war allies.
According to the sources, list has been prepared after going through the reports of provincial CID departments, police records and intelligence reports and out comes of the investigations and interrogations, carried out by Police and Intelligence agencies. These reports suggest the persons nominated in the list of Most Wanted Indian are constantly engaged in different forms of terrorism against Pakistan and Pakistani nationals and unless these are handed over to Pakistan for trial in Pakistani courts. South Asian peace can not be ensured.

Story behind the Mumbai Terrorist

Amir Azam Kasab, the only Pakistani terrorists nabbed live, has revealed the names and addresses of at least five people from the city, which has helped the terrorist operation.

21 year old Amir Azam Kasab, the only surviving terrorist who perpetrated the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, has been caught - by pretending to be dead and taken to the hospital - and has given authorities a full account of the attack and the circumstances and the events surrounding the attacks.

Stage of investigation is going on. Kasab has told police that they were sent with a special mission aimed at Israelis to avenge the atrocities on Palestinians. That was why they targeted Nariman House, a complex intended for Israelis. Sources say Kasab's colleagues killed in the operation had been in Nariman House earlier.

Amir Azam Kasav, also known as Mohammad Ajmal, Mohammed Amin Kasab, so confident in the picture above. It was taken when he went into the Mumbai train station (CST) in order to kill as many as he could. He and his partner finished its operations at the station and moved on to his next goal, Girgaum Chowpatty.

The 21-yr-old captured fidayeen was born at Faridkot village (pop 3,000), Dipalpur tehsil, of Okara district in Punjab province, 50 km east
of Multan.

Family belongs to Qasai caste. Father, Mohd Amir Iman, runs dahi-puri snack cart, mother, Noori Tai, looks after a ramshackle home Ajmal is one of 5 children. Eldest brother , Afzal, 25, works as a labourer in Lahore, lives near Yadgar Minar. Sister, Rukaiyya Husain, 22, is married in the village.

Then comes Ajmal. Sister, Suraiyya, 14, and brother Munir, 11, still at home Ajmal's poor father can't keep him in the local government primary school. In 2000, 13-yr-old Ajmal , who has done just class 4, is sent off to his brother Afzal in Lahore .

The elder brother, then 17, hardly has the means to look after his young brother Ajmal shuttles between Lahore and Faridkot village. In 2005, fights with his father and leaves home, saying he won't return . Not welcome in Afzal's house either.

Stays at the shrine of holy man Syed Ali Hajveri. Like his elder brother, starts working as labourer Finds the work degrading. Gets attracted to petty crime. With friend Muzaffar Lal Khan, launches new career in armed robberies . On Dec 21, 2007, Bakr-Eid day, they go to Rawalpindi to buy weapons It's here that they run into activists of Jamaat-ud-Dawa - Lashkar-e-Taiba's political wing - handing out pamphlets about their organization. After a brief chat, the duo sign up - not because of their conviction but for the training they might get. That, they feel, would further their career in crime Reach LeT's base camp, Markaz Taiba.

It's here that Ajmal starts getting influenced by films on India's "atrocities" in Kashmir, by impassioned speeches by preachers, including LeT chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed. Starts believing it might be worth sacrificing his worthless life for glory of Islam The camp gives him a sense of belonging that he never had in his family . When he comes home during a 2-month breaks finds he is suddenly being treated with respect by his family and community kin After this break, Ajmal chosen for for LeT's basic combat course, Daura Aam.

Does well and is chosen with small group of 32 for advanced training, Daura Khaas, at a camp near Manshera. Does well here too Selected for high-skill marine commando and navigation training, specially imparted to the team of 10 fidayeen team, chosen to attack Mumbai.

At 4.15 am, on Nov 23, Ajmal with the unit, sail off from a forlorn creeknear Karachi, each equipped with AK-47 s, 200 rounds of ammo and grenades Just before his departure, LeT military commander Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi promised Ajmal a reward of Rs 1.5 lakh to his family for his sacrifice in the cause of Islam.

Truth about Hookah

There is a myth that hookah smoking is safer than smoking cigarettes because the hookah smoke is filtered through water before it is inhaled. But, recent studies have found that hookah smokers actually inhale more nicotine than do cigarette smokers because of the massive volume of smoke they inhale. Hookah -also called narghile, sheesha and goza is a device that has been used for centuries in the Middle East and Asia to smoke tobacco.

Fake Swamiji in the USA

 Commander-Selvam

It’s about an Atlanta based swami named Selvam Sidhar, also called Dr. Commander Selvam (though his real name is apparently Annamalai?), who the reporter finds to be a fraud. There’s also a second part I would strongly recommend here, where the reporters went undercover to book a “beer bash and barbecue” in the Temple’s main hall, and Commander Selvam readily agreed to have meat and alcohol served on the premises. (That by itself seems like a big no no to me.) After the Fox reporters called the next day to “out” themselves, big banners reading “Hindus Only Allowed — No Trespassing” went up around the temple.

I’m not really sure what to think of this. On the one hand, the pattern of complaints from former employees, former Pandits, and patrons of the Hindu Temple of Georgia does strongly suggest that Commander Selvam is crooked.

But some of the footage they use, showing his house (heavily mortgaged), and his car, isn’t by itself an issue for me. If anything, the $900,000 mortgage on the house suggests he doesn’t actually have as much money in the bank as might be expected. Is this exposé overblown at times?

Ironically, there was an article on Rediff.com in 2005 about Commander Selvam before the temple opened, where he complained about his fellow Swamis, whom he described as follows: “They all come for money. If they only want to help people, why should they come to the US? They pretend to solve problems. If they could do that, why can’t they solve the problems in India?”

Finally, the reporter responsible for the recent story on Fox Atlanta, Randy Travis, has a blog post up, with 179 comments on the story. Most of them not worth reading, though on page 2 of the comments thread you see some readers tracking Commander Selvam’s various businesses in New York and California using publicly available information from those states. The businesses do look quite fishy. Someone who calls herself “vhpofusa” (!) also mentions the name of Commander Selvam’s H-1 sponsor in California.

George Carlin-paradox

This is a master piece.. If you have not read it take the time to read it now. If you have read it take time to read it again! GEORGE CARLIN (He recently died)

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate..
A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side..

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent..

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
George Carlin
